Sail north to the remote and sparsely populated Westfjords, where towering mountains sit alongside dozens of sparkling fjords in a wild, untamed subarctic landscape. Optional excursions here include visiting Ísafjörður, the location of the oldest house in Iceland or exploring Súðavík village, a town irrevocably altered by an avalanche in 1995. Get to know the history and culture of the towns as well as enjoy fantastic views of the landscape nearby.

Travel to ‘The Capital of the North’, Iceland’s second largest city located just 62 miles from the Arctic Circle. Sailing around Iceland’s northern coast to the east, you’ll arrive in the bay of Vopnafjörður, first settled by Vikings in the late 9th century. Today, you have the chance to explore: Opt to visit Vatnajökull National Park, home to Dettifoss waterfall, reputedly the most powerful waterfall in all of Europe; walk along the dramatic coastline; or visit one of Iceland’s newest and most popular attractions, the Stuðlagil Canyon. The region is also home to the Bustarfell Folk Museum and you can go back in time here, at one of the oldest and best-preserved turf farms of its kind.

The morning of day 10 sees you arriving in the Orkney Archipelago, a group of remote islands lying off the coast of northern Scotland known for their natural beauty. There is also an interesting heritage to be discovered here, with influences from the Picts, Vikings and Scots, and fascinating Neolithic archaeological sites.

Look to the horizon for your first view of the White Cliffs of Dover. Once docked, it’s time to disembark, ready to regale anyone who will listen with tales of your remarkable journey.
