Península de Samaná

The area is renowned for its superb location, ideal for gasping at the amazing North Atlantic Humpback whales during their migration, from mid-January to mid-March.

Historic Buildings
The Dominican Republic is steeped in history; from when Christopher Columbus first stepped foot on the island in 1492, this glorious Caribbean island has boasted beautiful historic architecture, which tells a fascinating story of the island’s past. Visit the glorious Catedral Primada de América, of which the first stone was set in 1514 by Diego Columbus, the son of the great explorer. Meanwhile, Fortaleza Ozama is the ‘New World’s’ oldest colonial military structure, flying the flags of Spain, England, France, Haiti, Gran Columbia, the US and the Dominican Republic.
Natural Wonders
Gain the best island viewpoint from atop Montaña Redonda. This dramatic mountaintop is a perfect location to take awe-inspiring photographs with 360-degress of mountain and sea views; on a clear day, it feels as though you can see as far as Haiti. Reserva Antropológica Cuevas del Pomier is an extraordinary location, holding 57 limestone caves that contain almost 600 paintings and carvings - the most widespread example of prehistoric art yet discovered in the Caribbean.
La Aurora Cigar Plant
Dominican Republic is renowned for its cigars, with La Aurora being the oldest cigar plant in the country. Visitors can sample handmade cigars that use a combination of tobaccos from all over the world. The skilled craftsmanship that creates these fine products can be seen first-hand, with enjoyable tours led by knowledgeable and experienced staff. The cigars have a personal touch as well as an historic eminence, and their superb level of quality has earned La Aurora many awards over the years.
