After Hours At The Mexican Anthropology Museum
Evening Tour, Duration: 4 Hours

Explore the most visited museum in Mexico during off-hours, where you'll discover fascinating artifacts from various cultures that once thrived in Mesoamerica. One of the most important pieces housed at the museum is the 24-ton Aztec Sunstone that was found buried beneath the city´s main square in 1790. While you observe its intricate craftsmanship, your guide will explain the legend of the five suns that is depicted in the stone. You will also explore replica temples and the tomb of King Pakal found at Palenque in Chiapas, as well as learning about the ancient ball game that was played across Mesoamerica.

Mexico City's Historic Centre

Exploring The Southern Neighbourhoods of Mexico City

Explore Mexico City’s southern neighbourhoods that feel like small villages despite being part of the big city. Your guide will lead you in an exploration of the tree-lined streets of San Angel and Coyoacán and along the waterways of Xochimilco. Walk the footsteps of some of Mexico’s most revered artists and writers, including a visit to Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul – a blue house where Mexican painter Frida Kahlo was born and later died, now a museum dedicated to her life. At Xochimilco, you will explore the canals while floating on a colourful boat called a trajinera to learn about the Aztec’s ingenious technique for growing food upon the fertile riverbeds of the pre-Hispanic canals - the chinampas are still in use today but for growing flowers rather than food crops.

Toniná Archaeological Site
Full Day Tour

Your private guide drive you to Toniná Archaeological site. Toniná - meaning ‘house of stone’ in the local Tzeltal Maya language - is an ancient Maya city that archaeologists now believe has the largest pyramid in Mesoamerica. Up until recently it was believed that the pyramid was built on a platform, but excavations have shown that the mounds cover a pyramid that is 73m tall. Your expert guide will lead you in an exploration of the site that was known to be an aggressive city, engaging often in warfare with neighbouring towns. You will visit the large ball-court and see over 100 carved monuments dating from the 6th-9th century. As you traverse the site, you will learn about the latest explorations and the new information that is regularly being discovered.

Accompanied by your local expert guide, go on a unique adventure, enjoy a very original introduction to the destination and learn more about Merida. Your guide will spend time sharing local knowledge about the city and Mayan culture, while visiting some of the most famous traditional Cantinas in town. These are the place where our fathers and grandfathers used to enjoy a beer, some of them with about 100 years of history, and where today, you may listen to “Son Cubano” or “Bachata” music, and enjoying an ice-cold beer with snacks (“botanas”) that range from cucumbers, to a larger traditional menu.
