After flying to San José, you’ll stay just outside of the city amid the Central Valley Highlands in a charming coffee farm plantation. A half-day city tour introduces the highlights of Costa Rica’s capital to you.

The gloriously green rainforest, waterfalls and volcanoes of Arenal Volcano National Park are next to welcome you on your journey. Discover the area’s beautiful landscape and fascinating flora and fauna during your time here, hiking along the park’s trails with a guide and venturing above the tree canopy on a series of hanging bridges. A river safari offers the chance to see a variety of native wildlife in the forest flanking the river, as well as in the water itself.
A private transfer brings you to the Pacific Coast, where white-sand beaches are the perfect setting for lazy sun-drenched days. Enjoy five nights at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica, a luxurious hillside retreat with mesmerising ocean views and a wealth of facilities including four swimming pools, four restaurants, two private beaches and an indulgent spa. Experienced divers can help protect the area’s coral reefs by taking part in a coral gardening activity and there’s a chance to make memories together experiencing the unique ethereal glow of bioluminescence at a bay near the hotel. Other attractions in the area include the Diamante Eco Adventure Park with its thrilling dual zip-line and the Diamante Animal Sanctuary, home to a world-class wildcat habitat, butterfly observatory and sloth habitats housing both two and three-toed sloths.
As your time in Costa Rica comes to an end, a private transfer takes you to Guanacaste’s international airport to check in for your flight back to the UK.
Embark on a private guided hike to the magnificent Arenal Volcano, where you'll also enjoy a Hanging Bridges Tour and pre-packed picnic. As you follow the trails through the tropical forest of Arenal National Park, you will see a variety of flora and fauna, impact craters and lava slides. On clear days, you will also be rewarded with sightings of Arenal Lake, the Tilarán mountain range and Cerro Chato (a lesser-known inactive volcano which sits next to Arenal). Next, explore the protected forest reserve with its hiking circuit and mix of 15, suspended and stationary, bridges suspended over and within the canopy. Designed at different heights and lengths, visitors can spot birds and animals more closely and easily, within differing habitat levels, and gain a wonderful perspective of the various forest levels. Inhabiting this forest reserve, are three species of monkeys, multiple species of birds, serpents, wild boars and frogs.
Take in the glorious surrounding scenery with a drive towards the Peñas Blancas river, before joining a thrilling half day excursion with a bilingual naturalist guide. On arrival, you will hop onboard a raft for a river safari, allowing you to closely observe some of the fabulous flora and fauna of the biodiverse region — including caiman, turtles, tropical birds, monkeys and sloths. No experience is necessary for this adventure, as the friendly and qualified guides will provide you with all of the basic instructions and complete confidence to enjoy this unmissable activity safely and with utmost enjoyment.
After pick up from your hotel, head towards the Arenal Hanging Bridges where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the picturesque canopy on a tree-top walk. Keep an open eye and follow your guide so you don’t miss out of anything that crosses your path, encountering wildlife of all kings and learning about their habitats. Afterwards, get ready to meet a local family who will cook and serve you a traditional lunch by the side of the river before heading to the Arenal Volcano National Park, learning about the ancient the volcanic climate as you hike around its base.
The best time to visit Costa Rica is during the dry season between December and April, when there is bright sunshine and very little rainfall.
