Luxury Holidays At Quinta da Casa Branca
The British ancestors of Quinta da Casa Branca’s owners, the Leacock family, first used this estate to grow vines and banana trees, and later, the family went on to be one of Madeira's largest producers of wine until 1925. With such a beautiful location, it is perhaps not a surprise that this estate’s destiny was to become home to one of Madeira’s finest properties. Opened in 1998, architect João Favila Menezes designed a unique boutique hotel, encapsulating a modern sense of elegance that blends in seamlessly with the wonderfully lush surrounding gardens.
The gardens are truly divine, and guests are continuously left smitten by days wandering verdant paths bursting with greenery. Dining is a pleasure at the hotel’s restaurant, set in a twentieth century building with a lavishly appointed dining room, while lunch and breakfast are served in the serene Garden Pavilion. Located just a ten minute drive from the old city of Funchal, there are plenty of reasons to get out and about, though lounging by heated outdoor pool, listening to the sound of nature, you may not feel like venturing very far at all.
