The Gaya Island Resort Marine Centre, housed at Gaya Island Resort's Tavajun Bay, takes a proactive role in its Three Pillars of Conservation: Turtle Rescue, Coral Reef Restoration and Conservation through Education to better protect marine life and raise awareness for sustainable seafood choices. The programmes were created with the help of leading global Turtle Conservationist and founder of the Marine Research Foundation, Dr Nick Pilcher, and are being implemented by Mr Scott Mayback, the resort's resident Marine Biologist.

Climate

The whole of Malaysia has a classic equatorial climate, with a combination of high temperatures and wet months throughout the year. A beach holiday can be enjoyed all year round, as the east and west coasts experience their wet months at alternate times - the wet season on the east coast (November to February) is when the west coast experiences sunny, dry weather. On the other hand, the wettest months on the west coast (April to October) are the driest months in the east.

Malaysia is home to an array of striking Chinese temples that have stood the test of time. Kuala Lumpur boasts an eclectic range of Chinese temples, including Sin Sze Si Ya Temple – the oldest Chinese temple in Kuala Lumpur – built on the orders of Kapitan Yap Ah Loy. Dedicated to Sin Sze Ya ans Si Sze Ya, it is still as important today as it was when it opened in 1883. Explore Thean Hou Temple, an imposing multi-storey Chinese temple dedicated to Thean Hou.
