Golfers will love the hotel’s close proximity to a number of prestigious 18-hole championship golf courses. No more than 5kms away is one of the oldest and best-regarded golf courses in Europe at Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club. Aside from the par 70 course itself, there is a library full of old golfing volumes (a real treasure trove that the club is immensely proud of), a Club House and a restaurant. A further six demanding courses, including Lanzo Golf Club, Golf Club Monticello and La Pinetina Golf Club, are nearby and the hotel Concierge would be delighted to make arrangements for guests to travel to and play any of the courses.

Luxury Family Holidays

Whilst there is no dedicated children’s club at Grand Hotel Tremezzo, youngsters are made to feel very welcome. There are two spacious Family Rooms, each with two bedrooms, located in an 18th century villa adjacent to the main hotel building. Children can enjoy a panoramic path up on the hill and discover the hotel mascot Bobo Bear’s lair. Buckets and spades can be provided for little ones wishing to play on the real sand beach and babysitting can be arranged through the Concierge. Each restaurant offers a children’s menu.

The hotel owns two beautiful Venetian motor launches. The first, Ruy, was built in 1961 and was owned by a member of the Venetian aristocracy to privately transport his family along the canals of Venice. The newest arrival, Barr, is an exclusive boat designed by the architect Ruggero Vanelli, and named aster Giovanni Battista Mallone, a proficient sailor and ancestor of the family that restored the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. They both glide elegantly across Lake Como on full or half-day tours that include off-the-beaten-track destinations at the north of the lake and even a Hollywood tour of locations used in movies or the well-known haunts of Hollywood stars, including George Clooney. Excursions are enhanced by on-board complimentary soft drinks and chilled Prosecco. In addition, a private English-speaking guide can be arranged, for an additional charge.
