This is India's leading luxury jungle resort and its twenty-five luxury guest tents hark back to a bygone era - think turquoise-coloured pools, fountain courtyards and accommodation complete with four-poster beds, roll-top baths and a private walled garden, but with contemporary touches including air-conditioning and private decks for sunbathing. Days here revolve around Ranthambore National Park, one of India's finest wildlife destinations and the only place to enjoy thrilling tiger safaris.
Property Location
The Oberoi Vanyavilas is an excellent base from which to explore Ranthambhore National Park and Tiger Reserve. The hotel will arrange a jungle drive to the nearby park, where you can ride around exploring the vast 393km2 park at dawn or dusk and will likely spot the majestic and endangered Royal Bengal Tigers. Furthermore, there is the opportunity to embark on a Chambal River Safari to spot India's critically endangered Crocodilian (Fish-eating Crocodile) in its natural habitat. Also known by the name Gharial, it has distinctive long thin jaws that have naturally evolved to suit its, predominantly, fish diet. It is one of the largest living crocodilians, with males growing up to six metres long. The likelihood of seeing tigers can be seasonally influenced, so if this a must-see, then do schedule your stay very carefully.
The Oberoi Vanyavilas provides intimate experiences that will surely leave a lasting romantic impression on you and your partner. Relieve tension and stimulate marma points around the body with a rejuvenating Ayurvedic ritual, which will leave you with a profound sense of oneness and wellbeing, before dining under the stars next to the tranquil waters of the beautiful lily pond, the flickering light of glowing torches, small candles and twinkling stars make the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. Sit back, relax and dine on delectable cuisine whilst traditional folk musicians play songs, creating a truly unforgettable experience for you and your partner.
Activities for younger guests include the Little Bartender, where children learn how to make some exciting mocktails with the service team; a walk through the gardens with the Naturalist, which might include the option to plant a fruiting tree within the grounds with the help of a Horticulturalist; sofa-making in the traditional Rajasthani-style (boys) and the art of mehndi (girls), as well as bathing the elephants, Mala and Laxmi.
Many guests come to The Oberoi Vanyavilâs simply to relax. The Oberoi Spa and Fitness Tent, set over the lake, is the ideal place to do just that. Pass the turquoise and lapis-blue tiled pools to a fountained courtyard, where you will find steam rooms, showers and private therapy suites. Guests can choose from an elaborate menu of spa treatments, massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, which include the stimulating Indian Spice Wrap and a delicious Orange Wrap. All the massage and aromatherapy treatments are aimed at relieving stress and promoting a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing, perfect after an exciting day of tiger-spotting in the reserve.

Rajasthan is a truly astonishing place, especially when it comes to history and architectural gems. Take Hawa Mahal for instance, Jaipur’s most distinctive landmark, boasting an incredible salmon pink façade that towers a staggering five storeys tall. Constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, it facilitated elegant ladies of the household as they watched processions of the city. Durbar Hall in Udaipur’s City Palace is another brilliant example of Rajasthan’s rich past; it is one of India’s most impressive reception halls, showcasing the country’s biggest chandeliers. Meanwhile, in Jodhpur, lies the magnificent Jaswant Thada, a beautiful white marble memorial for Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, built in 1899. It boasts quirky domes, striking carved-marble lattice screens and portraits of Rathore rulers dating back to the 13th century.
Rajasthan is home to some of the world’s most outstanding palaces, including the City Palace in Jaipur’s old city, made up of pretty courtyards, gardens and buildings. The palace’s outer walls were built by Jai Singh II but, as the palace has adapted over the centuries, the inside is an eclectic mix of styles, adding to its charm and character. Afterwards, be sure to discover the City Palace in Udaipur. With its facade overcome with balconies and towers, its grandiose stature looms over Lake Pichola. The City Palace’s construction began in 1599 by Maharana Udai Singh II (the city’s founder) and is the largest palace in Rajasthan.
Alongside its fascinating history and striking palaces, Rajasthan also boasts magnificent lakes and mountain scenery. A particular highlight is Lake Pichola in Udaipur, which reflects the marvellous mountains like a mirror on the water’s surface. Boat trips are regular and offer a brilliant vantage point over the city, perfect for budding photographers. Just one kilometre north of Pichola is the stunning Fateh Sagar, an artificial lake that was dammed in 1678 by Maharana Jai Singh, and reconstructed by Maharana Fateh Singh in 1888. This tranquil lake is encompassed by the picturesque Aravalli Hills and is a glorious place for a day trip.
Rajasthan, or the ‘Land of Kings’, boasts an extraordinarily rich history; its medieval society witnessed many battles and, to protect it against ravaging armies, built many forts throughout the region. Today, some of these forts still stand, offering a brilliant insight into Rajasthan’s fascinating past. Amber Fort in Jaipur is an extensive palace complex built from vibrant yellow and pink sandstone, complete with glorious marble features. Alternatively, visit Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, one of the most magnificent forts in India. Carved from the very rock it sits on, this alluring structure rises 120m above Jodhpur’s skyline.
