Luxury Holidays At Uxua Casa Hotel

Many hotels claim to be unique, but the vast majority of them are not quite as distinct as the five-star boutique UXUA Casa Hotel, conceived by the Dutch former Creative Director of Diesel, Wilbert Das. Sitting amidst the Quadrado (historic town square) - the focal point of the bijou fishing village of Trancoso - just 13 freestanding casas boast a treasure trove of quizzical features, such as sinks and baths sculpted from the trunks of fallen trees, showers flowing through thick wooden beams and old chests housing LCD televisions. Perfecting rustic simplicity, UXUA Casa Hotel uses all-natural materials, Brazilian art and antiques that mimic the laid-back aesthetics of Trancoso, with a dash of contemporary comfort to instill a barefoot chic vibe to proceedings. There’s also a spa using organic products, two Bahian restaurants and a spectacular free-form, lagoon-style swimming pool emblazoned with 40,000 green quartz fragments - said to have healing properties - and surrounded by lush garden foliage. This hotel is one-of-a-kind and try as they may, competitors fail to outdo it. In short, UXUA Casa Hotel's distinct, quirky style remains en par with its exemplary reputation and friendly service – totally unmatched and effortlessly laid-back and cool.

Spa Breaks

The green Adventurine Quartz used in the swimming pool is believed to have therapeutic healing properties - a great excuse to spend as much time in the pool as possible! In addition, the spa offers indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, a Jacuzzi and yoga studio. Treatments include massage, acupuncture and simple beauty rituals using 100% organic soaps and oils. Why not try a spot of Capoeira (African-Brazilian martial arts dancing)? Alternatively, the spa offers this and many other popular Trancosco dances. It’s a great way to keep fit, but if you prefer to exercise by yourself, stick to the simple fitness facilities in the UXUA Casa Hotel's gym.

Climate

Trancoso enjoys an enticing year-round climate, with its warmest month in March and the coolest in August. Average temperatures vary little annually, with maximums around 29°C, rarely dropping below 22°C at night, while the average minimum temperature is 20°C. Considering humidity, temperatures feel relatively hot for around half of the year, while there’s a chance of rain showers throughout most of the year.

Getting There

Please, speak to our Travel Consultans for flight information.

Golf

Designed by Dan Blankenship, Terravista Golf Course is located atop Trancoso’s iconic cliffs, offering breathtaking views across the fairways and out to sea. Celebrated as the best golf course in South America, it offers 70 hectares of playing area, lakes and native vegetation, utilising nature to provide natural hazards and stern challenges for even the most able golfers.

Beaches

Trancoso’s most obvious attraction is its soft-sand beaches, most that are protected by reefs and perfect for low tide swimming. For more deserted sands, Praia dos Coqueiros (Palm Tree Beach) is a small retreat, fringed by beautiful palms, while nearby, Praia da Pedra Grande (Big Rock Beach) has few tourists, but some restaurants and beach bars. The region’s most famous beach, Praias dos Nativos, has more facilities still. A great way to explore Trancoso’s beaches is by horseback, either independently or with a local guide.

Beaches
Festivals

Trancoso is one of the oldest villages in Brazil, founded by Portuguese Jesuits over 400 years ago, and has its fair share of festivities as a result. Saint Sebastião’s Day in January and Saint Brás’s Day in February are the most famous, when unique local traditions can be enjoyed as residents gather on the Quadrado to celebrate. Trancoso’s New Year’s Eve is also considered legendary, with a whole week of festivities. The, otherwise quiet, village comes vividly to life, as celebrities, models and thousands of other visitors descend for a week of fun.
