The third largest island in the Mediterranean, Cyprus is a paradise for beautiful beaches suitable for everyone, with a coastline that stretches over 400 miles. The island boasts an abundance of gorgeous sandy beaches with clear crystalline waters, whether they are found in the more peaceful western, northern and southern peninsulas or along the vibrant and popular eastern side. The island has invested quite a lot in its beaches and many of them now boast the all-important blue flag.
Lying on the south coast of Cyprus between Limassol and Paphos, Pissouri Bay is a beach hotspot. Stretching out for over two kilometres, this beautiful area offers a relaxing and tranquil ambience and is a top choice for families. On the east coast, Fig Tree Bay near Protaras is a superb beach with its golden sand and shallow waters, whilst the idyllic Lara Bay on the north west coast can only be accessed by jeep and is a conservation site, due to the green turtles that lay their eggs there.
Cyprus is also home to the iconic Aphrodite’s Rock and Beach, an iconic and mythical location where legend has it that Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Fertility, rose from the waters surrounding the rock. Head to Polis in the north west of the island to enjoy its fabulous stretch of golden sand and views of Aphrodite’s Rock and the Akamas Peninsula, where one of our featured luxury hotels, Anassa, presides beside it in a fabulous elevated position on the verdant hillside.
