Belfast

Giant's Causeway
An absolute marvel of nature, the famed Giant’s Causeway sits on Northern Ireland’s north coast. Comprising a staggering 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, resulting from an ancient volcanic eruption, expect to be awed as you make your way past the unique hexagonal columns of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Part of the National Trust, you can learn more about this amazing formation at the interactive exhibition, before refreshing after a bracing coastal walk in the on-site coffee shop.
Historic Sites
With a complex and turbulent history, Northern Ireland is filled with storied buildings – from castles raided by Vikings, to monastic ruins, to 17th century mansions - including Hillsborough Castle, the royal family’s Northern Ireland residence. Belfast offers a glimpse into the maritime past of the city and the conception of the RMS Titanic, as well as housing the state-of-the-art Ulster Museum, telling the unique human story of the area.
Game of Thrones
Alongside its enthralling storylines and cinematic marvel, Game of Thrones is renowned for its spellbinding settings, many of which can be found in Northern Ireland. Some scenes are filmed in a studio in Belfast, though many make the most of the impressive Northern Irish countryside – from enchanting Tollymore Forest Park, to the labyrinthine beech trees of Antrim, to historic Winterfell Castle. Dedicated Game of Thrones tours can be arranged.
