Adventure
A wonderful way to observe Koh Yao Noi’s unique ecological system, and to explore the island’s mangrove forest and its complex channels, is on a scenic, guided kayak excursion. For something more adventurous, try deep-water soloing around the sea cliffs of nearby Koh Kudu; climb out of a boat onto a striking rock, before jumping off into the deep water below - it will make your tummy tumble and have you hankering for more! Another thrilling pastime is rock-climbing, ascending craggy faces of towering limestone walls. Alternatively, rent a bike, motorbike or tuk-tuk and tour the island’s pastoral landscapes along dusty trails.
Scuba Diving
Considered one of the world’s very best diving spots - boasting a variety of different dive sites - aquatic fans will jump at the chance to swim underwater amid Phang Nga Bay’s theatrical limestone cathedrals. Discover all manner of beautiful tropical sea-life and shoals of exotic fish shimmering over clumps of pristine coral, as you glide through the water alongside experienced PADI Dive Masters. Scuba trips are tailor-made and all grades of courses are on offer.
National Parks
This region of remarkable natural beauty is teeming with wildlife on land and in the sea. Highlights include monkeys, deer and monitor lizards, as well as hornbills, sea eagles, exquisitely-coloured parrots and a plethora of marine creatures. Local National Parks embrace the ancient rainforest and limestone landscapes of Khao Sok, the tropical trees and waterfalls of Sri Phang Nga, the verdant mountains of Khao Lak Lam Ru, and the beach and hinterland of Thai Mueang. Clusters of divine islands, such as Similan and Surin, are treasured for their world-class scuba, whilst Phi Phi showcases beach-fronted jungle soaring above calm, turquoise seas.
