Checking out of your New Delhi hotel, you’ll head south and explore Agra‘s most iconic monument, the exquisite Taj Mahal. Stay for the evening and watch the sun go down behind this breathtaking masterpiece.

Begin day four early and get a chance to view the Taj Mahal as the sun rises. The soft morning light casts a magical glow on the white marble, and you'll likely have fewer crowds to contend with. You’ll then spend your next two nights at the beautiful Oberoi Rajvilas in Jaipur, home to beautifully landscaped gardens and traditional architecture. Spend your time in the city exploring the Amber Palace, discover the UNESCO protected Jantar Mantar and lose yourself amongst the colourful chaos of Jaipur’s bazaars.

On your sixth day you will fly to Kolkata and embark the Ganges Voyager II, beginning your cruise down the Ganges River.

Kalna, a former bustling river port, now captivates visitors with its stunning Hindu temples, a legacy of the Bardhaman maharajas. You'll spend the day marvelling at the architectural brilliance of the Rajbari temple complex, with the option to explore the lively local market afterwards.

Matiari offers a unique and authentic glimpse into rural Indian life. A town celebrated for its brass and bell metal works, watch skilled artisans transform ordinary metal into intricate and beautiful objects here or take a leisurely walk through the village lanes and soak in the serene atmosphere.

Day nine will lead you to a duo of Bengali towns - Murshidabad and Baranagar - each one boasting a captivating blend of history, culture and serene beauty. Enjoy a horse-drawn buggy ride to Katra Mosque, wander the museum halls of the Hazarduari Palace and experience the idyllic charm of Baranagar as you meander through lush green fields and exquisite terracotta temples.

Witness the daily life of people who depend on the river, from fishermen to worshippers, as you make your way along The Ganges towards Khusbagh, a former royal garden. Literally translating to “Garden of Happiness,” Khusbagh offers a glimpse into the rich heritage and grandeur of the Mughal era and is the perfect spot for introspection and mindfulness.

Prepare to be astounded by the sheer magnitude of Mayapur, the global epicentre of the Hare Krishna movement. This modern-day holy city is currently constructing the monumental Temple of the Vedic Planetarium. While many are familiar with British colonial India, fewer know of the French influence. Today, you'll step back in time to explore a former French settlement.

Kolkata, once the capital of British India, boasts stunning colonial architecture, reflecting its rich history. Spend the day exploring the captivatingly colourful Flower Market, wander through the Potter’s Colony and learn how to make intricate clay idols or visit iconic temples and religious sites, offering a glimpse into the city's spiritual heart. Disembark in the city on the final day for your return flight to the UK.
