You Can't Miss These Four Experiences When Visiting Six Senses Kanuhura

My magical moments in the Maldives...

If you're looking for the dream beach destination for luxury travel, this is it. Six Senses Kanuhura encompasses three islands in the Lhaviyani Atoll of the Maldives: two uninhabited islands, plus the island of Kanuhura itself. I was lucky enough to be one of the first guests to experience the resort upon its reopening in September 2023, and it was an absolute dream.
This tranquil resort really is an island paradise, iconic for its white-sand beaches and laid-back living. Here you'll find endless views of crystal-clear water, palm-fringed sands and clear blue skies. It's a tropical haven that can be a hub of adventure or a calm respite; whatever you need it to be.
Whilst there are many activities and experiences on offer at Six Senses Kanuhura, from fishing trips or dolphin cruises to sumptuous spa treatments, here are the top four unforgettable experiences that made my trip to this Maldivian paradise an escape like no other.

A Castaway Lunch

As a three-island resort, Six Senses Kanuhura has plenty of space for remote experiences. It's ideal for those who want to get away from it all, or to simply have a touch of complete seclusion whilst still having the amenities and atmosphere of the resort.
One of these experiences is Drift, a castaway lunch set on the private island of Jehunuhura which is just next to the resort. The island is uninhabited, so you have to get here by boat which adds to that remote feeling, and with just a few tables on the sand, it's an intimate but incredible atmosphere. The view from the lunch table was beautiful; crystal-clear water and white sand, looking back over at Kanuhura. To top it all off, I had the freshest seafood here!

Spanish Tapas at Sunset

The sunny blue skies of the Maldives are always a pleasure to indulge in, but the sunsets here are something else. And as I headed up to The Point, a restaurant set on an idyllic on the northern tip of Kanuhura, I had the best view of the sun meeting the horizon.
The food was just as memorable. It's the first time I've ever had Spanish tapas in the Maldives, and it did not disappoint. The chef's recommendations brought some really tasty surprises and introduced me to an array of dishes that I may not have chosen, which made this experience even more unique. The chorizo and pear lollipops were a standout favourite for me, they were amazing!

Sea Turtle Safari

It's no secret that the crystal-clear atolls are perfect for swimming in, but it's not just us holidaymakers who like to take a dip in the warm atoll! One of the highlights of this holiday was getting to see the underwater residents of the Maldives on an amazing turtle safari.
We were taken by boat 20 minutes away from the resort to a reef that is famous for sea turtles. The reef's deep caves are favoured resting spots for turtles in between their meals where they can head up to the surface.
As soon as we got into the water I was within feet of a turtle, and throughout the whole experience I saw the most sea turtles I've ever seen in the Maldives. Watching them swim in their natural habitat was a mesmerizing experience. Beyond the turtles, the safari also featured sharks and manta rays along the reef.

Seeing the Pioneering Sustainability

During my trip, I got to take a sustainability tour with Jaqueline, the sustainability manager, which offered a glimpse into Six Senses Kanuhura's commitment to environmental responsibility. As we toured the Earth Lab, I saw some of the most amazing equipment, including Hydroponics technology which grows plants using a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil.
The Maldives are volcanic islands, so growing any type of plant is very difficult, but this pioneering technology within the Maldives will help to cut down the importing of material. There was such an array of plants growing here from basil to bak choi. Sustainability is engrained into the Six Senses DNA, but with this new technology, it feels like Kanuhura is leading the way!

There are, of course, plenty more amazing travel experiences on offer at Six Senses Kanuhura. But having come back with some incredible memories, these are my stand-out moments.
