To toast the grand opening, the VIP guests were treated to a taste of the resort's culinary offerings. Six of the eight world-famous chefs who are making this Arabian playground their home with in-resort restaurants from its opening in February provided an exemplary gastronomic experience, with guests able to enjoy a host of live cooking stations of culinary masterpieces.
The resort was also inaugurated by a long-awaited headline performance from Beyonce under The Royal's monumental façade. The 60-minute show included incredible renditions, iconic hits and captivating choreography; the chart-topper joined the Skyblaze performance fountains for the powerful finale, soaring sixteen feet in the air and surrounded by a thrilling visual of dancing water and fire.
Dubai's latest icon then took the centre stage, following Beyonce's performance with one of its own - an extravaganza of fireworks and drone art as a parallel to the opening celebration of its sister resort, Atlantis, The Palm. As the fireworks settled, Swedish House Mafia started the afterparty celebrations, with the acclaimed international guests celebrating into the early hours.
