Treasures Of Thailand: Exclusive Experiences

From sun-kissed beaches blessed with a golden glow, to mist-shrouded temples with a backdrop of ancient Banyan trees, Thailand has a wealth of treasures just waiting to be found.

Three of our expert team recently ventured to Thailand, looking beyond the luxury hotels and resorts to find immersive experiences that celebrate the very best this country of contrasts. One of our Luxury Travel Specialists, Emily Rutter, shares some of her Thai highlights...

You had the chance to try a lot of Thailand's experiences. What was your favourite of the trip?

ER

My favourite by far was the visiting the elephants. We got to interact with two beautiful elephants; cleaning them, feeding them and watching them play is something that will stay with me forever. For completely different reasons, I also really enjoyed going on a bike tour through Bangkok, stopping to see some of the iconic sights of the city.

Did you learn any new skills during your travels?

ER

I love cooking at home, so to be able to learn how to cook Thai food from a professional chef was great. I loved going to pick the fresh ingredients for our cooking class and learning the basic skills to make a dish that I would never usually try.

Thailand is known as the 'Land of Smiles'. What were the local people like?

ER

They were the most genuinely lovely people I have ever come across. They can't do enough for you - they want to make your experience extra special, and always have a smile on their face.

You dined in some amazing places! What was your favourite meal?

ER

I am not sure I can decide between two! We did a tuk tuk food tour in Bangkok and I had a deep fried noodle dish with a raw egg yolk which was so fresh and authentic. At Six Senses Yao Noi, we ate at The Dining Room and I had a starter of Tuna Tartar that was delicious, followed by a Seafood Thai Stew for my main that was absolutely amazing!

What three words would you use to describe your luxury Thailand adventure?

ER

Unforgettable, adventurous and beautiful.

From my home in picturesque North Wales, my travels have taken me from the idyllic Greek Islands to the bright lights of New York - always with a very full suitcase, of course!
