The Ultimate Luxury Travel Bucket List: Insider Tips from Our Experts

The one trip everyone should do...

Our team are always travelling the world to find the most exciting destinations for you and the top stays within them. Bringing bucket lists to life, these are some of our Luxury Travel Specialists' first-hand stories of the escapes they think everyone should experience at least once.
Plus, they also share the local secrets and must-do moments from their own travels that make these destinations so extraordinary.

Canada

Claire Lockley, Concierge Manager

I think Canada is somewhere that's on a lot of people's bucket lists, and that's most likely thanks to its great outdoors. Glistening lakes, flowing rivers and miles upon miles of forests, the pictures really do make it look magical. And yet they don't even seem to do it justice! Seeing these in person is just amazing - Lake Moraine is the most picture-perfect view I have ever seen in my life. And the colours of Lake Louise are so beautiful. Canada's wildlife spotting opportunities make for a trip of a lifetime too. We saw a mum and cubs while bear watching in Tofino and lots of humpback whales on a trip from Cambell River.

Costa Rica

Michael O'Dea, Luxury Travel Specialist

With moments you'll never forget and views you couldn't get bored of, I couldn't recommend Costa Rica more. I've never been anywhere like it. All the activities here will bring you closer to nature, so be prepared for eye-opening and awe-inspiring experiences. Zipline through rainforests in the Aernal Volcano National Park raft along gentle rivers into your hotel, walk across hanging bridges that take you through the forest canopy, and head out on guided wildlife tours to spot the local animals.

Tenerife

Tenerife may be known for its year-round sun, but it's an island full of colour and discovery. Find UNESCO heritage sites, amazing natural sights and delicious food. The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama's gourmet offering is world-renowned, so I would thoroughly recommend this incredible property for foodies. Incredibly, the resort offers three Michelin-starred restaurants! My favourite dining spot here though is El Mirador due to its spectacular cliff-top location with uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean while enjoying delicious seafood dishes.

Zakynthos

Kailey Jones, Luxury Travel Specialist

The island of Zakynthos is lively with an array of attractions, but just 20 minutes away from Zakynthos Airport is Porto Zante Villas and Spa... prepare to be wowed! This is a hidden gem with the utmost in privacy and the most attentive service I have ever experienced. We made amazing memories here, from breakfast each morning with magical Ionian Sea views to heading out on a private yacht with gourmet hamper in hand to visit the blue caves, shipwreck and secluded beach.

Mauritius

As an island paradise of natural beauty, rich culture and luxurious experiences, Mauritius is a destination that all discerning travellers need to visit. Inviting you to discover the highlights of the destination, The Oberoi Beach Resort, Mauritius promises a true taste of the island. It's an intimate, boutique hideaway with a high level of luxury and one of the best General Managers I've met. The food here is incredible, and you can tell it has the culture and values of Mauritius at its heart. The Herb Trail is an absolute must-do, an al fresco dining experience serving delicious delicacies within the resort's herb garden.

Thailand

Alison Haining, Product Manager, Asia and Africa

Thailand is a must-do for any luxury traveller, whether that's because of the stunning beaches that are perfect for an unforgettable honeymoon or the incredible diversity of cities, wildlife and culture that appeals to families of all ages. It's a country with a warm welcome and world-class service, plus excellent domestic flight connections for even more exploring.

If you're looking for a trip that will inspire and revitalise, AlUla has it all and more. A landscape with ancient history and dramatic scenery - this region's a real standout for me. Visit Hegra's Nabataean-period tombs and the Dadan archaeological site for a fascinating experience. Our Habitas AlUla feels like a seamless transition - set amongst the rock formations but with all the comfort of a luxury resort.

Antigua

Caroline Beckett, Product Manager, Caribbean

Antigua is known for its laid-back atmosphere and friendly locals, so whether it's your first visit or fifth, it always feels like a second home. Curtain Bluff is one of the island's stand-out stays - I love that there's so much on offer. Join the latest racquet revolution, pickleball, or why not try waterskiing? If that's a little too fast paced, enjoy a gentle sail on a Hobie Cat or explore the bay by paddleboard. My top tip would be to end your day in paradise with a late afternoon treatment and then relax on the spa terrace with a glass of Champagne while the sun sets.

Maldives

I genuinely believe that everyone deserves a getaway that lets you hit the refresh button. This is why I love the Maldives so much - these islands are all about natural beauty and breathing easy.
Soneva Jani is an extremely special resort with luxury lures for the whole family. Set on one of the largest islands, the villas are generous, stylish and private but this island also offers plenty of fun. You can slide straight into the water from your villa, the outdoor cinema boasts a beautiful set up, and the Den is among the best kid's clubs I've seen!
If you're looking for a more sophisticated stay, then I couldn't recommend Soneva Secret more. The newest of the Soneva retreats, this is an escape all about personalisation, privacy and absolute weightlessness. Just 14 villas means that it's ultra exclusive, and the island itself its truly remote and beautiful. It's an honest experience of barefoot luxury; the very definition of an island escape.
