Looking to visit the island of Grenada and want to know where to head for delicious food?

Grenada, known as 'the Isle of Spice', is a popular destination for a luxury Caribbean holiday. A sought-after location all year round, it is a hive of activity, usually bustling with luxury holiday seekers or those looking to enjoy some winter sun.
Earning its name from the plethora of nutmeg plantations that dot the hilly island, there is so much to see and do, especially indulging in the abundance of delicious local restaurants. Food is an essential part of day-to-day life in the Caribbean, and Grenada is home to some of the best restaurants in the world, so a visit to the island wouldn't be complete without a delicious meal or two.

In this article, we take a look at the ten most popular restaurants in Grenada, including first-hand comments from those who have visited and enjoyed their offerings.

61 West, Saint George

61 West is situated on the edge of Grand Anse beach on the southwest of the island and is a popular restaurant and bar that serves unique, Caribbean cuisine all day. Serving up a culinary experience that promises to be unforgettable, 61 West offers a variety of fresh food enhanced by Grenadian herbs and spices. What could be better than enjoying food fresh from the island whilst looking out over the blue ocean? We spoke to Becky, who is an avid travel blogger at Global Grasshopper. She has visited Grenada before and highly recommends 61 West to anyone visiting the south of the island; she commented a little further on her experience: "For a truly incredible location and sublime locally sourced food, head to 61 West located near Blessed Sacrament Church and the Grand Anse Craft and Spice Market on Grand Anse Beach in Grand Anse. The restaurant is located right on the beach, so absolutely perfect for watching the sunsets, and there's also a shower in case you want to go for a swim before eating. They have quite a diverse menu, including freshly caught catch of the day and the fish tacos, Plantain chips and superb cocktails are a must try too. The service is good, the prices are reasonable, but the location is out of this world - don't miss this Grenada gem!"

Some of the tantalising dishes you can try when experiencing the restaurant include Grilled Catch Burger with Asian Slaw, Asian Glazed Pork Ribs, Grilled Fresh Lobster Tail, and Jerk Chicken. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 7 am through to 10 pm, so there is plenty of time to enjoy.

Rach and Marty from the travel blog Very Hungry Nomads also recommended 61 West and the delicious cuisine and views that are on offer: "A great place to eat in Grenada is 61 West located on Grand Anse Beach. The views are stunning, and the menu has something for everyone. Don't miss the fresh salads (we love the super salad), and the fish tacos or any seafood dish is always a good choice. The ideal place to enjoy a cocktail at sunset."
