If you're looking for the ultimate thrill, why not use your
luxury holiday to the Arabian Gulf to try sky diving? Over the iconic sands of Palm Jumeirah, those who are looking for an exciting thing to do in Dubai can take to the skies on a skydiving experience.
This is something that blogger
Travel Addicted Unicorn did in 2019, and she shared her experience on her blog: "As you are standing at the open plane door, there is not too much that goes through your mind. You are at that super high adrenaline mode where you're asking yourself, 'am I actually going to jump out of a freakin' plane?' The instructor does all the decision-making for you, and on the count of three, the two of you plunge towards Earth."
"It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it is something that you will remember for the rest of your life."
Want to enjoy panoramic views but not sure you can commit to a skydive? Why not try the
Xline? The world's longest urban zipline will allow you to coast over Dubai's iconic marina. Travelling up to speeds of 80 kilometres an hour, you'll be able to enjoy over a kilometre of zipline at 170 metres above the ground! And don't worry about souvenirs, as you'll be able to get photographs and videos when you land to show your loved ones at home your accomplishment.
Does the world's largest water park sound exciting enough for you? Perfect for those enjoying a
luxury family holiday, Aquaventure Waterpark is one of the most popular attractions in the city, thanks to its legendary waterslides and experiences. With a total of 105 waterslides and attractions to enjoy, you won't run out of excitement during a visit to Aquaventure!
Oneika the Traveller has visited the park and had a great time. She described her experience on the Leap of Faith, one of the park's most iconic rides, perfectly on her blog: "I even went down the mother of all water coasters, the appropriately named Leap of Faith. Nearly 30 meters tall and just over 60 meters long, this gargantuan slide deposits you into a tank filled with exotic and fear-inducing sharks (which you are, of course, protected from thanks to a very thick pane of glass). I took the leap of faith, but not before much nervous titter and hand-wringing beforehand. However, like a big girl, I rose to the challenge and took the plunge. and bellowed in sheer terror all the way down."
What's even more exciting is that those staying in either
Atlantis the Palm or
Atlantis the Royal will be able to enjoy complimentary daily access to the park as a part of their stay.
We wouldn't usually recommend visiting a building to get a thrill, but when it's the tallest building in the world, it can't be overlooked! Towering half a mile above the ground below, not only can a visit to the
Burj Khalifa make your knees shake, but it can also offer panoramic views across Dubai. With two observation decks - one on level 148 and one on levels 124 & 125 - there is plenty to see and enjoy.
You may think of Dubai as a warm-weather holiday destination, and that would be right, but that doesn't mean that thrill seekers can't hit the slopes! Located within the Mall of the Emirates, one of the world's largest malls,
Ski Dubai offers 22,500 square meters of fresh powder - perfect for cooling off from the warm temperatures. Whether you're a beginner who needs a lesson or want to try the advanced routes, you'll enjoy a day out here - you can even meet their group of penguins, roll down the slopes in a Zorb or enjoy a zipline over the slopes!
On his blog,
Amateur Traveller, Barry Kramer shared his experience at Ski Dubai: "How was the skiing? Not bad. I regularly ski in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, and I make occasional journeys to Vermont and Upstate New York. This was in no way anything like Vermont skiing, but it was similar to the skiing I have experienced in the Poconos.
"The trails had a good layer of groomed packed powder and were not icy. One trail was used mostly by beginners, but the other had a nice intermediate pitch to it. It was rarely used. I made most of my runs on the intermediate side and thoroughly enjoyed speeding down the mountain for a few precious seconds."
For those looking to enjoy a
luxury holiday in Dubai but who like a thrill, you'll be pleased to see that it's not all shopping and skyscrapers (although you can enjoy plenty of that too!)
