Spend a Day at JW Marriott Mauritius Resort

24 hours in paradise...

Mauritius is an island for discerning travellers, with luxury stays dotted around the island. On my recent trip, I had the luxury of combining some time at each of these for the ultimate Indian Ocean experience. The grand finale of this getaway was JW Marriott Mauritius Resort, an exceptional stay on La Morne Peninsula.
With all-out luxury and memorable moments throughout the day, this was the perfect way to end my Mauritian escape. Whether you are looking to add this to an island multi-centre, or make the most of it with a longer stay, I would highly recommend this resort. Here's what you can expect from a day at JW Marriott Mauritius Resort.

Morning

You can start the day as you mean to go on with JW Marriott Mauritius Resort's helipad. A helicopter arrival means that before you even get to the resort you can catch a glimpse of the natural beauty that's in store for you. We flew through the mountains, with the lush greenery stretching out below us dotted with waterfalls.
Though we didn't fly over it on our arrival, the hotel does offer helicopter excursions over the island's underwater waterfall - arguably the number one thing to see in Mauritius!

The helipad is just about 20 minutes out of the resort, so once we landed, a transfer was waiting to take us to the resort.

Breakfast at Le Manoir Dining Room is a beautiful way to start the day here. The buffet selection provides plenty of choice, though all are equally delicious, with fresh breads, fruits and pastries.
Then from the moment I arrived, everything was as easy as you could wish for. Pink golf buggies are ready and waiting to help you get around the resort, and there is certainly a lot on offer to explore! The library is just beautiful and takes holiday reading to a new level, or thanks to its position on the West Coast, you could also spend some time trying out the watersports.

Lunch

Together with friends, we had a private dining experience on the beach for lunch, and it was just incredible. There is a local saying "West is best" regarding the coasts of Mauritius, and with a view like this it's easy to see why.
JW Marriott Mauritius Resort isn't just on the beachfront, it also benefits from having a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Le Morne Brabant Mountain as its backdrop - so the views are something else. So, this added to the out-of-this-world food made for an unreal lunch. The seafood was the star of the show, from lobster thermidor to the seabass, it was all on another level.

Afternoon

After such a delicious lunch, we spent a lot of the afternoon soaking up the sun, relaxing and really enjoying the time we had left here. The sunken conversation pit at the beach bar was the perfect place in the shade to sit and talk about our trip so far with a glass of Champagne, before moving to the main pool, which was irresistible, surrounded by tropical trees.

Then as our time in paradise was coming to an end, we went for a dip in the ocean before heading back to the room to freshen up before our flight.

Evening

Though I had a flight to catch, there were plenty more adventures available into the evening should I have had time. The hotel hosts stargazing every Friday, which I can only imagine is incredible to see the stars light up the sky of Le Moune peninsula. And there's a seriously impressive cinema which even serves popcorn!

Return Home

After an incredible day here, our Elegant Resorts transfer took us back to the airport with an easy (and beautiful) hour-long drive. But of course, there is also the option to helicopter out.
