With pristine beaches and sunny skies, Mauritius is one of the favourite choices for a luxury beach break, and it's easy to see why. But on their latest trip, our team were able to delve further into the magical moments of this island.
Each stay offers a different perspective, from family fun to exclusive evenings full of charm. Sharing their experience of three of the island's best hotels, alongside their top tips and favourite moments, our team invite you to uncover the Elegant side of Mauritius.
Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius

When we arrived on the island, we were met by our Elegant Resorts Mauritius reps, and after our long flight, it was so nice to have the transfers ready and waiting to whisk us off to our first stop - Shangri La Le Tousserok.
As soon as we got to the hotel, we went for an hour massage at the spa, and I felt fully restored. This is a travel tip that I'll be applying to any long-haul holidays from now on, as it was such a game-changer.
Feeling freshly rejuvenated, we then went to lunch at the incredible beach restaurant - the fish of the day is so fresh, and caught by local fishermen of a nearby village. Then we had some time to relax on the beach.
One of my favourite moments from this stay was sunset hour at Coco's Beach Bar. There's live music, beach bags to lounge on, and a perfect ambience with the glow of sunset and guests coming together. It's a great experience in the morning too, as Coco's Beach Bar is the only a la carte breakfast option. The energy bowls were a fabulous breakfast option for a warm day in paradise!
Families aren't an afterthought here either, with a really cool kids' club that even I wanted to play in, and it's inspired by the two tortoises you can meet on the island.
The hotel also has an exclusive island which is home to some amazing gastronomic experiences, with Verve boat trips and the most delicious truffle pizza I have ever tasted. You could easily spend a few hours here.
One&Only Le Saint Géran

Our next stop was One&Only Le Saint Géran via just a short road transfer. We were treated to use of Villa One for the morning - it's the only private accommodation at the hotel with its own beach and loads of cool nooks like hammocks and cabanas. It was absolutely gorgeous.
But the true highlight of this property is the Guerlain Spa. Even before you walk in, it's super tranquil, separate from the beach and accessed via stepping stones.
Depending on the type of treatment and purpose of it, they give you a choice of Guerlain scents for your experience, which follows you right through to the post-treatment relaxation room. The treatments had me hypnotised. Even the pool area outside which is exclusive to the spa is so chill. It was probably the most beautiful spa I've been in.
And the food was just incredible! Lunch at Le Badamier was such a highlight - the burrata with parma ham and a melon jus was absolutely divine. We were also there for one of the Mauritian nights on Sundays, where evenings are filled with local foods, Mauritian dancers, a band and even fire dancers.
JW Marriott Mauritius Resort

Our last stay was at JW Marriott Mauritius Resort which was a true standout for me. Everything was amazing from start to finish. We took a heli-transfer to the resort, which when leaving from One&Only Le Saint Géran means we flew around the coast, over the mountains and even spotted some waterfalls on our way! Then a transfer was ready and waiting to take us from the landing pad to the resort.
This stay really lives up to the local phrase of "West is best" - it's a bit of a windier coast but in a way that means you can go out windsurfing and fly kites rather than it hindering your holiday. There are a lot of other watersports too, but all non-motorised to protect the reef. And the beach is beautiful.
Everything here is easy living at its finest, from pink buggies to take you around the resort to spa beds set up in the bathrooms so that you can have in-suite treatments. One of my favourite moments though was lunch on the beach - a glass of Champagne in a comfortable shaded area before the most beautiful private dining experience with incredible views and a delicious menu of seafood.
