The first stop was RAKxa Wellness & Medical Retreat, set in a lush tropical nature paradise next to the Chao Phraya River. Everything was beautiful, but our villa was something else with a private pool, lagoon views and even our own bikes to get around the resort.
The wellness facilities were excellent with a clinic for medical testing, as well as Cryotherapy and an oxygen chamber. There is also an amazing holistic centre and fitness centre with some of Thailand's top wellness professionals. I left feeling revived with so much more energy than I arrived.
My next stop was a revisit to Kamalaya Koh Samui which I have been lucky enough to visit twice before. It's a truly special place and was as good as I remembered. The views of the sea and sounds of the jungle made me feel instantly relaxed. The standard of treatments and quality of the food was excellent as well. The daily yoga and meditation classes were definitely a highlight.
My visit to Santiburi Koh Samui was an experience I won't forget. The resort, one of the first retreats to launch on the island back in 1992, was spectacular. The beach is really beautiful with swaying palm trees and the beachside restaurant makes the most of the incredible sunsets of this part of the island - with an excellent food menu to match of course.
My daughters stayed in a one-bedroom villa which had a lovely sitting room, large bathroom and private outdoor areas; we stayed in one of the new villas, called Reserve, which is set in a separate area with a modern style, a private pool, lovely outside terrace and large living room; and we all felt right at home in our accommodation.
Then we went on to Soneva Kiri which is a totally unspoilt paradise. On arrival we were escorted to our own golf buggy and taken straight to our villa for check in. Our villa was huge! It was one of the most impressive villas I've ever stayed in, with a yoga studio and gym, a pool in the middle and a huge central living area, all with amazing views out to the sea. Soneva is all about experiences and we dived straight in with exciting cruises, incredible dining opportunities and some snorkelling for underwater statues.
Thailand is an incredible holiday destination and certainly knows how to look after its guests - the service levels, quality of accommodation and food, along with the friendly people, truly make it one of the best places in the world to visit. If you feel you're feeling in need of a recharge, the wellness retreats are certainly worth a visit.
