When I was asked if I would like to join colleagues on a Grenada holiday to experience properties we feature, I was a definite yes!
Our trip started at
Silversands - and what a stunning entrance. We were met by staff with a welcome drink and handmade necklace, but what really grabbed my attention was the 100m long pool - the longest pool in the Caribbean.
I loved the rooms here - they were fresh, light and contemporary and after downloading the app, I had control of the lighting, blinds and curtains from the comfort of my bed. It is the perfect resort for a luxury holiday in the Caribbean, pairing beauty with ease so effortlessly.
The first morning we had a fantastic start to the day with yoga by the side of the pool, followed by a world-class breakfast in one of the villas, with endless choices of delicious local food. We enjoyed the rest of the day at our leisure and had an amazing spa treatment. I would definitely recommend the back massage!
During our stay we had the opportunity to visit
Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel , and we were truly spoilt with the most incredible lunch, where the Chef prepared our meals in front of us. We were then spoilt even further the following day, when we experienced a Culinary Safari Tour at Tower Estate, learning about many different plants and their multiple uses.
This was one of the trip's best experiences. The Tower Estate is a wonderful house steeped in history and nicknamed the Downtown Abbey of Grenada. The gardens regularly send flowers to the Chelsea flower show.
We had an interesting tour of the gardens by the wonderfully eccentric owner, full of stories and knowledge of her family estate. We touched, picked and smelt an array of plants used for both medicine and cooking, learning about them all. Then we even went on to help harvest the ingredients for our lunch, and assisted by the incredibly talented Chef Belinda we were able to have a hand in making a range of local dishes, cooking in the gardens of estate. It was the ultimate farm to table experience.
The Blue tea is a must too, made from dried blue pea flowers and lemongrass and with lots of health benefits including anti-aging and anti-diabetic properties.
Our next stay was
Spice Island Beach Resort , where we were greeted with a smile and that unmistakable Caribbean charm. Unlike Silversands, Spice Island offers a more traditional taste of Grenada, yet its elevated luxury service is unforgettable. Nothing is out of question at Spice Island.
I stayed in the most incredible Luxury Pool Suite, which I could imagine as being perfect for honeymooners or couples looking for that secluded luxury escape. This all-inclusive paradise caters for everyone, and the A la Carte evenings at Oliver's Restaurant followed by a cocktail or two (the rum punch is not to be missed!) is the perfect way to spend the later hours.
The white sands and calm blue waters of Grand Anse beach really do exceed expectations when it comes to beauty. A panoramic view of the ocean and natural terrain of Grenada make those beach walks even more beautiful.
Along the beach are local beach bars and eateries that we got to visit, all capturing the joyous nature of Grenada and its people. These beach bars are open until evening and are just a simple 5-minute walk from both hotels, I think these are a must do for that authentic Grenadian experience.
From early morning walks down the three-mile stretch of glorious Grand Anse Beach to being immersed in verdant nature. Grenada is an island that tailors itself to you. It has to be up there among the best luxury holiday destinations.
