If Met Gala Outfits Were Elegant Resorts Destinations

Turning last night's looks into luxury destinations...

Historically taking place every first Monday of May, all eyes were on New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday evening for the red-carpet arrivals of The Met Gala 2024.
Every year, The Met Gala is held to introduce the theme of the Costume Institute of the museum's annual fashion exhibit. This theme then sets the dress code. In 2023, we saw Karl Lagerfeld honoured as the theme of The 23 Met Gala. This year, for The 2024 Met Gala, the theme is 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion' translating into an official dress code of 'The Garden of Time'.

As always, it was an inspiring evening of outfits curated by the biggest names in fashion. Take a look at all of the red carpet looks on Vogue's official site:

From the Met to the Map

Inspired by the outfits from this year's Met Gala, we're sharing our top ten Met Gala looks to inspire your next luxury holiday...

Jennifer Lopez in Schiaparelli haute couture - Dubai

Dubai Marina
Not long back from her One&Only One Zabeel opening, J-Lo is channelling the glitz and glamour of Dubai in her Met Gala look. Adorned in sparkles, her likeness to the glittering city is furthered with her Tiffany & Co. jewellery.

Zendaya in Maison Margiela Artisanal - The Caribbean

Zendaya's long-awaited return to the Metropolitan Museum of Art came with a royal blue and emerald-green trumpet gown. The colour combination as well as the fruit and flower details are reminiscent of The Caribbean's tropical beauty.

Gigi Hadid in Thom Browne - Amalfi Coast

Wearing a white off-the-shoulder Thom Browne dress, Gigi Hadid's allusion to the evening's 'The Garden of Time' theme came in 3D yellow roses complemented with yellow jewellery. Whilst this look has perfected the theme, we can't help but think of Southern Italy.

Greta Lee in Loewe - Skiing in Switzerland

In her first appearance at the Met Gala, Greta Lee wore a white lace dress; delicate with softly falling flowers. Paired with a rosy-cheeked make-up look, Greta Lee was a vision of Verbier.

Uma Thurman in Tory Burch - Greece

Greece
Whilst Uma's look was actually inspired by an extinct butterfly, her eye-catching, iridescent look had us dreaming of the bougainvillaea houses and laid-back luxury of Greece.

Bad Bunny in Maison Margiela - Milan

Bad Bunny has become known for putting his best fashion foot forward, even earning him a co-chair position at the 2024 Met Gala. This year, the Puerto Rican star arrived in a custom Maison Margiela Artisanal look by John Galliano that stirs visions of Milan.

Esla Pataky and Chris Hemsworth in Tom Ford - California

Los Angeles
This golden couple embodied an easy luxury feel, coordinating Chris' custom cream Tom Ford three-piece with Ela's gold viscose dress and matching headpiece. Their colour coordination and apparently effortless elegance make this an obvious choice for the Golden State.

Emma Chamberlain in Jean Paul Gaultier - Saudi Arabia

Habitas AlUla
This year, whilst presenting the red carpet, Emma Chamberlain takes on the fantasy style of the 'The Garden of Time' short story. The mocha-coloured lace and added layers remind us of the futuristic yet fragile fashion of Dune and its Saudi Arabian filming location.

Elle Fanning in Balmain - The Maldives

Wearing a sheer, water-like Balmain dress and Cartier jewellery, Elle Fanning looks like the embodiment of the Maldives. The fairytale magic that is translated into her outfit is the same feeling you get when you arrive, and her dress looks just like the island's clear waters.

Lea Michelle in Rodarte - Japan

Mount Fuji, Japan
The bold blue look from Lea Michelle with its airy elements has us envisioning the clear blue skies behind Japan's Mount Fuji. The over-the-shoulder pink flowers add another sakura-like element to the outfit, which is complemented by the soft pinks in her make-up look.
