Amongst the array of world-class facilities that will be on board this state-of-the-art ship is a multi-million dollar curated art collection filled with incredible pieces from more than 200 artists. And whilst Regent is renowned for showcasing extraordinary artwork by the likes of Picasso, Miró and Chagall to guests across their fleet, this newly announced collaboration with Fabergé is a world-first. Breaking the boundaries of art and luxury, the crowning jewel of the Seven Seas Grandeur's collection will be the rare, first-of-its-kind objet d'art treasure as a permanent exhibit at sea.
"With each new ship we want the journey itself to provide opportunities for discovery and enrichment as much as the destinations along the way. We knew that our very own Fabergé x Regent Egg could become the type of awe-inspiring piece that would captivate and inspire our guests throughout their voyage with us." - Jason Montague, president and CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
Designed to reflect the mesmerising beauty of the world's seven seas, paired with an allusion to the Fabergé Winter Egg from 1913, the stunning hand-crafted objet reflects the legacy and heritage of both companies. From conception to completion ahead of it standing pride of place as the ship sets sail in November 2023, the intricately designed egg will have taken 48 months to complete.
"For Fabergé to have been selected to create the jewel in the crown of Seven Seas Grandeur's prestigious art collection, which will permanently live at sea, is a very exciting milestone and a first in Fabergé's 180 year history." - Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell, Fabergé Creative Director.
Titled 'Journey in Jewels', the egg will feature a number of firsts for the Fabergé artisans. From hiding it's opening mechanism in its three-tier base that references a cascading waterfall, to the incredible complexity of it's ground-breaking ombre enamel shell being the very first time that Fabergé has applied this technique to an egg.
Designed by Fabergé's Head of Design Liisa Tallgren, Journey in Jewels' 18cm frame will be adorned with seven blades, representing the seven seas, that will reveal the surprise inside. Evoking the spirit of an epic ocean voyage, the green and turquoise base grows into the blue of the waves before breaking into light-blue hues and a spray of pearls.
Not only can Seven Seas Grandeur guests marvel at this one-of-a-kind artwork, and discover the mystery housed within the Journey in Jewels egg, but discerning travellers can also discover Fabergé's origins and legacy across Northern Europe with new experiences from Regent Seven Seas Cruises®.
