From Our Travels: Volume IV

Take a look at where our team have travelled to recently...

We travel extensively to gather insider knowledge and first-hand experience of some of the world's most luxurious destinations. Here are just a few of our latest travel highlights.

Sun, Sea and Authenticity in Greece

Ben Morgan, Luxury Travel Specialist

Grecotel Corfu Imperial combined everything that makes Greece's islands a perennial favourite and blended it with exclusivity, luxury and unforgettable moments.

When I arrived at the hotel I was welcomed with a selection of drinks and chocolate truffles. If the truffles were anything to go by (and they were) this was going to be an amazing stay!

The second day was filled with amazing moments. A breakfast of fresh pastries, mimosas and saxophone tunes beside the pool kicked it off. After relaxing on our private pool deck, we headed over to Grecotel's Danila Village where dinner was held on the cobbled streets with string lights twinkling above us. The food was incredible with lots of authentic dishes. They had a lovely band playing Greek music and towards the end of the night we got involved with Greek plate smashing!

Our last day was the perfect ending to our Corfu escape. Lunch at Yali Seafood was so unique - literally floating on the sea! Then we boarded a catamaran for a cruise around private beaches, soaking up our last moments of Grecian sunshine with some swimming and paddleboarding.

A Wellness Wonder

I was a little nervous, having not been to a wellness retreat before, but my seven-night Advanced Detox Programme with Chenot Palace Weggis was fantastic. I felt totally refreshed, energised and the healthiest I had felt in years. I had so much more energy, felt lighter and genuinely couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

Into The Wild

Hayley Rosindell, Luxury Travel Specialist

Yellowstone National Park is 2.2 million acres and we pretty much saw all of it across three full days. We learnt about the behaviours of bears and wolves from expert guides, picnicked in the middle of the National Park and met with a horse whisperer before exploring on horseback. And beyond the park itself was authentic food, quintessentially western saloons and lots of cowboy hats!

Exploring Costa Rica's Lush Landscapes

It's hard to put into words just how beautiful Costa Rica is. It is a country whose heart is intertwined with nature. Getting to experience this was just incredible. Relaxing days began with a wake-up call from howler monkeys, getting us ready for a day of wildlife spotting, whilst adventurous activities saw us rafting down the Pacuare River or ziplining through the rainforest.

A Trip of Italian Traditions

Karen Ashton, Luxury Travel Specialist

Baglioni Hotel Regina was a true Italian classic. The hotel is traditional with a sense of place; classic Roman style with Art Deco influences everywhere. The suites had stunning terraces that overlook the city, and I had the most amazing Spaghetti Carbonara at Brunello Restaurant, with roman pecorino cheese and black truffle.

I absolutely loved Verbier. The Lodge, Verbier was just stunning, a very special place which felt super luxurious, but I instantly felt relaxed. It has great access to Les Quatres Vallées ski area and fun après ski bars. Verbier itself is amazing - stunning scenery and every local dish always had some kind of cheese - what more could you want?

An Italian Delight

Rebecca Turner, Head of Product

As expected from every Rocco Forte stay, my weekend in Rome was exquisite. Despite being right at the top of the Spanish Steps, Hotel de la Ville, a Rocco Forte Hotel is the epitome of a 'hidden gem', with amazing food and stunning displays around every corner. A major highlight was our cooking class where we learnt how to create the perfect tomato sauce.

My Maldives Paradise

Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru
I was truly in awe of the Maldives on my trip this past winter. Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru was one of the most beautiful settings I've ever found myself in and my room was just steps from the turquoise lagoon. Watching the underwater world during a massage at Gili Lankanfushi was a highlight of my stay, but the rustic style and friendly service were what made me fall in love with the resort.

Experiencing the Awe of Africa

Rowena Edwards, Tailormade Manager

I spent a week travelling across Botswana and Cape Town earlier this year, and it was a week I'll never forget. It was packed full of amazing adventures, like game drives with our knowledgeable, passionate and kind guide, a scenic helicopter flight over the region's safari landscapes and a wine tasting at a working winery. It was such a beautiful insight into two awe-inspiring countries.

Easy-Going Luxury

Jumby Bay Island in Antigua was the destination of my dreams - within 8 hours of leaving London, I found myself on a private island with beach access. What more could a beach lover ask for?

Since my last visit over 10 years ago, it's no surprise that Jumby Bay has seen several enchantments. Whilst it was and remains a world-class stay, it's now a contemporary island retreat with a laid-back vibe and luxury at every turn. One of my favourite additions is the pool right by the beachfront.

The new Junior and Family Suites are also superb and secluded, slightly set back from the beach but very spacious. It's the ultimate relaxing escape - peacefully private with lots of natural light, garden views and an outdoor shower.

Getting around the island is also super easy as all guests are offered their own bicycles, with child bikes and baby seats provided for younger ones.
