I arrived early evening and for my first stop I visited the beloved JUMBO Seafood - a household name in Singapore, famed for its iconic chili crab. After a delicious dinner with friends, we spent the rest of the night in Native Bar, an award-winning cocktail bar that creates unique drinks using ingredients foraged from Singapore.
My first full day was an early start to stop off for breakfast in Chinatown and try a local dish, Ya Kun Kaya Toast, before heading off to
explore Singapore in an adorable Vespa Sidecar. Operated by a local company, this great experience is a fun and interactive way to get a taste of Singapore's culture and visit key landmarks such as the Peranakan heritage area of Joo Chiat, a colourful and historically significant district of Singapore.
Believe it or not Singapore is comprised of 64 islands, and the following day we headed over to Sentosa, one of Singapore's island resorts which is easily accessible from the city via road in about 30 minutes. There are a huge range of activities on Sentosa, including Universal Studios, Madame Tussauds, the S.E.A Aquarium, a waterpark, bungee jumping and many thriving spots for shopping. There is also a range of accommodation on Sentosa and it is a great option for families or to split a longer stay in Singapore doing a few days in the city and a couple of nights on Sentosa.
Before spending my afternoon at one of the beach clubs, I had some fun not only enjoying a ride on the Luge, the zip line and the SkyHelix, an open-air gondola that gently rotates to a height of 79 metres above sea level and provides views across Sentosa and the Southern Islands
For my third and final day in Singapore, I took the opportunity to explore one of the lesser inhabited islands and nature reserves, Pulau Ubin. Close to the border of Malaysia and just a short ferry ride from the city, this picturesque nature reserve is home to a lush and thriving array of habitats and eco-systems - perfect for wildlife enthusiasts. Later that afternoon, my group enjoyed a gentle hike through the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve which offers an amazing range of walking and cycling trails for visitors of all levels of ability. The day was topped off with a visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, home to the National Orchid Garden UNESCO World Heritage Site.
