Five Reasons to Fall in Love with Jumby Bay Island

Fancy an all-inclusive Antiguan escape?

Just a short (and very scenic) boat ride from the Anguillan mainland, discover Jumby Bay Island, a true private island paradise that guarantees gorgeous scenery, laid-back luxury and a seemingly endless choice of activities to embrace. As we count down the days to its reopening on 7th November, we reflect on why this luxury Antigua hideaway stole our hearts from the start...

1. Seclusion, space and sustainability

Space is so important when travelling these days, and this postcard-perfect private island flaunts 300 acres of lush palms, fragrant fruit trees, rolling farmland and white powdered beaches, making space somewhat easy to come by. Accessed only by boat, the island oozes a serious sense of seclusion, combining exclusivity and elegance with laid-back Caribbean living. Explore this Eden's winding cycle tracks on your personal bicycle (with not a single car to worry about!) or learn more about the inspiring indigenous wildlife that you share Jumby Bay with - including the adorable and endangered hawksbill turtles, for which there is a dedicated conservation programme here. Of course, the other marine animals are just as awe-inspiring, with parrot fish, sea turtles, blue tangs and octopus often spotted on complimentary snorkelling trips. Keeping the island perfectly pristine, there is also a huge focus on sustainable luxury here with initiatives including solar heating systems, rainwater collection, coral reef protection, the island's native plant nursery, and a recycling programme that makes Jumby the largest recycler on Antigua!

2. Villas and Private Residences

Simply sophisticated, light-filled and luxurious, Jumby Bay Island offers just 28 spacious suites, each with ultra-luxe amenities and views of the Caribbean Sea, and some with private swimming pools. For additional privacy, peace and more space than you could dream of, the resort is also home to a collection of gorgeous villas and residences. Villas range from two to four bedrooms, flaunting large living areas, kitchens and outdoor spaces with private swimming pools. Private Residences, meanwhile, offer the ultimate in luxury living. Each with a distinct and utterly dreamy design, they range from four to nine bedrooms, boasting large pools, private beaches, tennis courts and more. During a residence stay, enjoy the dedicated services of a private housekeeper, chef, house manager and gardener, along with full access to the resort's activities, pools, fitness facilities and spa. While the all-inclusive offering doesn't apply to residences, guests in these glorious hideaways can enjoy 25% off food and beverages at the resort's eateries and bars.

3. Utterly all-inclusive

As well as its inspiring vistas, luxury accommodation and slick service, Jumby Bay's awesome à la carte offering really sets this Antigua resort apart. If you stay in a suite or villa, everything (and we mean everything) is included. Starting with your stomach, you can dine a la carte in the selection of superb restaurants across the resort - whether fancy fine dining multi-course menus, laid-back local street food or elegant afternoon tea. Wherever and whatever you choose, expect fresh sustainable produce gathered from the island and nearby. You can also enjoy all drinks throughout your stay - and yes, this includes handcrafted cocktails, fine wine and Tattianger champagne. Get stuck into Antiguan life with rum tasting and authentic cookery classes, again without spending an extra penny. If you'd rather get out into the great outdoors (you'd be crazy not to with those views!), more complimentary activities include snorkelling trips, wakeboarding, sailing, kayaking and even spellbinding sunset cruises aboard a catamaran - mimosa in hand, of course! Little guests can look forward to hours of discovery and fun at the (you guessed it) complimentary children's club, while the whole family will love the cinema on the beach.

4. Wonderful wellness

If your stay wasn't serene enough, you can also head to the fabulous Jumby Bay Spa, an oasis of calm with an alfresco relaxation lounge, plunge pool, steam room, sauna and five tranquil treatment rooms overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Make the tricky choice from the extensive treatment menu which is deeply rooted in the heritage, history and natural environment of the West Indies, using ancient healing remedies and a range of lovely local ingredients - including coconut, aloe vera, lemongrass and various other essential oils. Head to the shady pavilion for yoga or Pilates sessions with a certified instructor, or get your heartrate soaring with bootcamp overlooking the beach.

5. Plan with peace of mind

It's no secret that travelling comes with a little more caution these days. With this considered, Jumby Bay Island has introduced a selection of safety measures and protocols to ensure your complete comfort and peace of mind. While physical distancing is easy here (thanks to the wealth of space and variety of private experiences), other measures include exclusively à la carte dining, use of PPE for staff, and viewing menus by mobile app. There are also increased cleaning, sanitation, and personal hygiene protocols in place, temperatures are taken on arrival, and masks must be worn in public areas and upon arrival. Even better, if you book your Jumby Bay Island escape with Elegant Resorts, you can relax in the knowledge that you can change or cancel your booking without charge up to 48 hours before travel, in the case of restrictions and/or bans on travel or entry into the national territory, travel restrictions, isolation or quarantine obligation imposed by the Antigua and Barbuda authorities.
