This week we've curated a collection of city break destinations, each with their own unique blend of architecture, culture, people and food.
Paris
FRANCE
Paris - 'the City of Love' - thoroughly deserves its reputation as the most romantic city in the world. The Eiffel Towers is a true icon, although there is plenty else to see here. Explore world-class art galleries, enjoy a boat-ride along the Seine, or visit some of the many historical sites on offer. When feet get tired, embrace the famed Parisian café culture, where stylish pavement cafes invite you to sit awhile and people-watch. Come evening-time, sample true French cuisine in one of the many Michelin-starred restaurants. With so much on offer, Paris truly makes the perfect city break.
We recommend: Le Bristol Paris - Nothing short of flawless, this timeless gem is hidden amongst the urban jungle of modern-day Paris.
Singapore
ASIA
Singapore is one of Asia's most fascinating cities, mixing modern trends and traditions with contemporary styles and architecture. Towering skyscrapers meet with more traditional districts, including Chinatown with its chic bars and authentic restaurants, and Little India with its narrow lanes and beautiful temples. Marina Bay is a more recent addition to the city, known for the spectacular Singapore Flyer Ferris Wheel and the colourful Super Trees of Gardens by the Bay. Many visitors to the city will no doubt wish to follow in the footsteps of so many before them, by heading to the legendary Long Bar at Raffles Hotel Singapore, for a Singapore Sling. First created in 1915, the classic cocktail is nearly as iconic as the city itself.
We recommend: The iconic Raffles Singapore is the perfect choice for your luxury Singapore holiday
Dubrovnik
CROATIA
A UNESCO World Heritage-listed gem, sandwiched between sheer limestone crags and azure waters, Dubrovnik more than deserves the superlatives heaped upon it. Cut off from the world during the Yugoslav Wars of the early 1990s, it is now a city reborn. Renowned for the beauty of its old town, Dubrovnik also offers winding limestone streets, elegant Baroque churches, and steep, narrow lanes which lead to azure waters. Beyond the city are beautiful hotels, wooded peninsulas and the sparkling Adriatic sea, strewn with lush islands.
We recommend: The sumptuous Sun Gardens Dubrovnik, which offers breathtaking views of the Dalmatian Coast
Rome
ITALY
Live la Dolce Vita in Rome, where visitors will find a dazzling array of world-famous architecture and landmarks, as well as chic designer boutiques, a plethora of fabulous restaurants, and eye-opening gelaterias. A wonderful city to explore, with incredible architecture around every corner, Rome is perfect for a long weekend break away. Visitors will inevitably head to Rome's most iconic sites, such as the Forum, Colliseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican. For a longer Roman holiday, fly into the city and stay in its heart for a few days, before hiring a car and driving north into Tuscany or Umbria, or drive south to the picturesque delights of the Amalfi Coast.
We recommend: Hotel de Russie, a Rocco Forte Hotel, thanks to its perfect location in the heart of the city's most fashionable district.
Dubai
UAE
Dubai offers a city break like no other. Here, the ancient and modern meet between the golden sands of the desert and the warm blue-waters of the Gulf. Glorious sunshine, glittering souks and soaring skyscrapers are all here, as are sumptuous spas, designer boutiques and countless bars and restaurants. Downtown Dubai itself is home to some of the city's most important and record setting landmarks. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world whilst Dubai Mall is the world's largest shopping mall. Added to this, the prominence of the English language makes every UK visitor feel at home, whilst Dubai's vibrant atmosphere and constant sunshine ensure it really does take pride of place in the warm heart of Arabia.
We recommend: Burj Al Arab Jumeirah - Rising from the waters of the Arabian Gulf, its sail-shaped silhouette an enduring 21st century icon, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah is arguably one of the most luxurious hotels in the world.
New York
USA
Synonymous with American style, New York has a buzz unlike anywhere else in the world and has truly earnt its reputation as the 'City That Never Sleeps'. With a staggering array of activities to enjoy, you can shop until you drop on 5th Avenue, explore the trendy bars of the Meatpacking District, take in an award-winning show on Broadway, or pay a visit to one of the many major attractions such as Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, and Times Square. No trip to this city is complete without some form of culinary adventure, whether you prefer to visit a deli for the ultimate sandwich or experience fine dining in one of the many award-winning restaurants.
We recommend: Located in the heart of the city, The Peninsula New York offers the perfect combination of old-world charm and contemporary state-of-the-art technology.
