When I asked a local "Why Antigua?", their response was simply, "Why not?" And after experiencing the island firsthand, I couldn't agree more. It's well known that Antigua boasts 365 beaches, one for practically every day of the year, with idyllic stretches of pristine sand lapped by turquoise waters. These beaches are perfect for strolling, sunbathing or snorkeling through the warm sea.
Beyond the allure of the beach, adventure awaits. You can soar through the rainforest on a thrilling zipline, explore the island's diverse landscape on one of the many hiking trails or dine at one of the many local restaurants. Antigua has an up-and-coming dining scene and an ever-expanding collection of fabulous restaurants which range from more casual venues to outstanding sushi and cocktails on the cliff. Our Concierge Team can assist with recommending and booking our favorites.
Antigua oozes a feeling that can't entirely be explained, and the whole experience surpassed every expectation I held. I was blown away by the island (quite literally when a local fire dancer literally blew fire inches from my face during a thrilling performance!) and I can't wait to go back.

During our trip, we were lucky enough to spend some time at the iconic Blue Waters Resort & Spa, where we stayed in the Pelican House. This sprawling 6-bedroom villa boasted a private pool and direct access to a semi-private beach, which was perfect for escaping the crowds.
Evenings were filled with entertainment at the on-site Pelican Bar, which reflected the charm and vibrant energy of the island each evening. One night, a fantastic singer had everyone dancing under the stars, while other nights featured jazz evenings or lively steel bands.
For a truly unforgettable finale, our last night here was crowned with a private dining experience at Rock Cottage, created by Executive Chef, Michael Harrison, and his team. Nestled on the peninsula with breathtaking ocean views, this hidden gem became the setting for a six-course, locally inspired feast. Beautifully presented and bursting with flavour, the menu itself was a love letter to Antigua. Fresh and seasonal ingredients, like locally caught lobster and vibrant callaloo, were transformed into dishes that showcased the island's rich culinary heritage.

My favourite part of our Antiguan trip was our private boat party, where we got to see some of the island's hidden coves and stunning shorelines.
Before we hopped onto the charter from Coco Bay to the Kaikoconut D Party Queen, we had a quick cocktail at Sheer Rocks, and the views from the restaurant were incredible. There was also a plunge pool looking out to the sea, which would be a perfect place to sit back and enjoy a few rum punches. When people ask me what would make me recommend the Caribbean, I would pinpoint that exact moment looking at the panoramic view in front of me, as I have never seen anything more perfect.
Stepping aboard the Kaikoconut, the Caribbean vibe was undeniable. Afrobeat music pulsed, and with the entire boat to ourselves, we were treated to unlimited drinks and a delicious local barbecue. The stationary vessel boasted rows of plush sun loungers that offered a luxurious touch, along with top-deck slides and a platform to jump off into the sea which was a great way for everyone to get involved. I'd highly recommend a boat trip for anyone visiting, as it would be perfect for friends and families or like us, a private charter.

Our final stay made for an amazing goodbye to such an incredible destination. Carlisle Bay really brought the spirit of the island to us in every essence. Not a second of this tropical paradise was wasted - whilst we arrived in the evening, we did not pass up the opportunity for some cocktails on the beach! And an early start meant that we could enjoy the sunrise during a yoga session with a local spiritual guru.
The rest of the day was spent enjoying some of the resort's 150 acres. The hotel has an incredible beach that is dotted with swaying palm trees, and a stroll on those pristine white sands was irresistible. I must admit a lot of my time was spent in the swimming pool with gorgeous views, but there were also complimentary activities available if we wanted them like kayaking and snorkelling.
The real highlight though was our extravagant final evening. As we arrived on the jetty for our dinner, we were greeted with the most beautiful beach set up - the firepit was lit, the sounds of the steel pan band filled the air, and a fruity rum cocktail was waiting for us. Whilst the food was amazing, the showstopper of the evening was the fantastic fire eating performance by local Antiguans. It was such a fun touch, encouraging our participation and full of comedy value.
