Those who like truly wild places will love Serra Cafema, the most remote camp in Southern Africa, which is named after the mountains that dominate the skyline. Situated in the extreme northwest of Namibia, perched on the lush banks of the Kunene River, this peaceful, rustic camp takes its inspiration from the area's pioneering spirit and has been built beneath the shade of ancient Albida trees. It’s an unexpected oasis of luxury, with guest accommodation comprising just eight private meru-style luxury tents set on spacious, private elevated wooden decks alongside the river and boasting rustic decor inspired by nature - think wooden floors, natural linens, canvas and thatched roofs. The main guest area - Ozonganda - boasts indoor and outdoor dining areas, a sunken lounge, library, curio shop and plunge pool.
This isolated region is shared with the Himba people, some of the last true nomads in Africa, providing guests with the unique opportunity to visit nearby families and learn about their lifestyle and traditions, should they be in the area at the time. Other activities include 4x4 Land Rover excursions, boating on the Kunene River and guided quad-biking excursions across the dunes. *Please note that the camp will be closed from 15 January to 15 June 2018 for refurbishment.
