Despite it being one of America’s most sparsely populated areas, with Salt Lake City the only major metropolis, Utah’s soaring mountains, desert canyons, and deep valleys have made it must-visit destination for adventure-lovers. The south and east of the state boast large rock formations in amazing colours and shapes – staggeringly dramatic canyons, arches, and spires – while the southwest is known as the 'Colour Country' and is home to forested mountains ten-thousand feet high, as well as Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. The Southern Moab area features no less than five National Parks, as well as the Colorado River, Green River and ski resorts in the Rocky Mountains, while the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Lake Powell are genuine watersports havens.
